And what’s a great way to express your love and devotion?
Why…in a letter…
Hi Beth Ann!  Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!
Thank you for having me on the blog today, MaryAnn!  I really appreciate it!
*waves hello to all those reading* Hello everyone! My name is Beth Ann Masarik, and I am the author of a new YA/Urban fantasy saga called The World Among Us.  On the blog today, my characters were kind enough to allow me to share with you some love letters that they have written to each other.  I thought that this would be a great way to gear us all up for Valentine’s Day.  But first, for a little blurb about The World Among Us:

In The World Among Us, Hades, the god of the Underworld, plots to take over the world, and remove Gaia, the head Deity, from power.  In order to do so, he plots against his own son, Damien, and cons him into killing his soul mate, the beautiful goddess of the moon, Selene.  Hades does so, because Gaia is his natural enemy, and Selene is her favorite grandchild.  He thinks that by killing off Gaia’s favorite grandchild, he will weaken her.  With Selene out of the way, Hades then moves in on the Creatures of the Night.  He wants to kill off their leader, Jason Aysel.  Jason is the go-between person between worlds, and another person that Gaia highly regards.  Hades manipulates and cons Jason’s best friend, Leon Greene, into murdering him, by offering him Jason’s position as his reward.  Because of these actions, a war is to take place on earth between the gods and other Creatures of the Night.  During this time, Selene is reincarnated, and kept hidden as a secret weapon to win the war against Hades.  In order to win the war of wars, the gods and some of the demons will have to fight together, and learn to co-operate with each other.  Will the Titans and Olympians be able to set aside their differences, and take back the world from Hades?  Or is the world as we know it, doomed to fall under dark shadows, forever?

And now, for the love letters…

Selene to Edymion:

Selene sat on her throne made out of silver on the moon.  She looked out the window of her shrine, and pulled out a pen and piece of parchment.  She had been so busy lately, that she hadn’t been able to visit her eternally sleeping husband, Endymion.  She missed him terribly, and eventhough Endymion was cast into an eternal sleep, and would not be able to read the letter, she knew that he would have appreciated the thought.
Selene placed the letter in an envelope, sealed it with a kiss, and gave it to Hermes to deliver to Endymion.
DuVessa to Damien:
DuVessa paced in her room irritably.  She had a lot on her mind, and had so much that she wanted to say to Damien, but she couldn’t find the right words to say verbally.  Damien had hurt her, and she wanted him to feel the guilt, and her wrath.  Finally, after what felt like an eternity, DuVessa sat down at her computer and began to write an email to Damien.

And last, but certainly not least…

Damien to Selene:

There was so much that Damien wanted to say to Selene, but the odds of him actually having the guts to talk to her, were very slim.  He wanted to pour his heart out to her, but how could he possibly do that, when their families were sworn enemies?  He let out a sigh, opened up his desk draw, pulled out a quill pen and piece of paper, and sat down to write a letter.

Well, there you have it folks. DuVessa just sort of snuck in there and demanded I write that letter from her lol. What did you guys think?

What beautiful letters! I enjoyed reading them.

  2. Erin

Great letters, Beth! I didn't realize DuVessa had a somewhat human/emotional bone in her body (other than hate, rage and jealousy). Loved all three letters, though Damien's was my fave (of course).

  3. Red Ink

At first, I was curious, but now you have left me truly intrigued. I must get my hands on a copy of your book.

  4. Donna

Sounds like an amazing book. I love anything with Greek Mythology. I love the letters!
