Spotlight: The Recruit by Fiona Palmer – Guest Post

From one of Australia’s Queens of Romance comes the debut in a brand new YA series about secrets, strengths, and what lies beneath the surface.

Jasmine Thomas may not be completely normal, but she’s a pretty typical seventeen-year-old girl. She hates the rich mean kids, loves her best friends, and can’t wait to get out of school each day. Her spare time is spent at The Ring — a boxing gym where she practically grew up — learning karate, boxing and street fighting. So, yeah, Jaz can kick some major butt.

Life seems pretty normal until the day Ryan Fletcher enters her gym…mysterious and hot with heaps of bad boy charm. Sure, she checks him out. Who wouldn’t? But what doesn’t show on his gorgeous abs are secrets and lies that dominate his very grown-up world. Now Jaz has to figure out just how far she is willing to go to know more. Could Ryan really be offering the life-fulfilling life path she’s always dreamed of?

5 Reasons to Love Jaz

I love all my leading ladies but I do love Jaz the most because she is young. Her whole life is just starting — she’s experiencing first loves and new things beyond school. I get to live my own teenage years again through Jaz, she’s everything I wished I could have been back then.

Jaz is tough, not just in the sense that she can fight but in the way she doesn’t care what people think about her at school. She doesn’t try to conform to what’s cool and expected or that dreaded peer pressure.

But Jaz can also fight. She has been sparing in the gym with her mates for years. Boxing, street fighting, karate and even fencing at school. She is awesome.

Then there is her gorgeous tinted skin, silky long black hair and vibrant blue eyes. What more could you want in a pair of commando boots?

She has a big heart. Loves her two best friends, and wants to do something important with her life, something that matters and will make a difference to others.

Sure, she may be a little reckless at times. Jumps in without thinking things through but I’d like to think she’s more on the courageous side.

So my five reasons to love Jaz would be:
1. She’s tough
2. She’s a fighter
3. She has a big heart
4. She’s courageous
5. With Jaz, what you see is what you get.

I hope you love Jaz too.  =)
