I couldn’t find a trailer, so here’s a song!

MaryAnn-2015I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again. There really is nothing that author K.A. Tucker writes that I do not absolutely devour! This woman is an amazing writer, and if you have not yet had the chance to read anything she’s written, I suggest you fix that sitch stat!

He Will be My Ruin is another K.A. Tucker book that sure did not disappoint. This is a standalone read that kept me up way past my bedtime, and I didn’t even notice the time fly by. It kept me on the edge of my seat and had me second guessing myself time and time again.

He Will be My Ruin follows Maggie Sparkes, a rich business woman, who flies to New York City after hearing the news that her best friend, Celine, had killed herself. Always the one who has strived to take care of Celine and her mother, Maggie goes to settle her estate and try to figure out just why her best friend, who was so full of life and energy, took her life.

But once Maggie starts to uncover a world that Celine was a part of, Maggie starts to wonder if Celine’s suicide was exactly that, a suicide, or was she murdered? Diving deeper and deeper into the sad and desperate life that Maggie had no idea Celine was living, Maggie begins to meet and build relationships with those who were “closest” to Celine…especially in the days leading up to her apparent suicide.

Finding notes and tidbits of information within the confines of Celine’s little apartment, Maggie starts to play a dangerous game of undercover detective and places herself smack dab in the middle of something that she may not get out of alive.

He Will be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker was an addictive read that combined thrills and mystery, and introduces the reader to a world that is sadly a reality. It had me thinking of the other young women out there who are struggling to live day to day, whilst going to school and trying to make enough to make ends meet. How far are they willing to go to be able to afford tuition and any other sort of luxuries? This novel really does open your eyes.

The writing was superb, as it always is, and the characters were all memorable. It had you loving to hate and hating to love the antagonist. The men in the book, Grady and Jace, were both sexy in their own way. One a little rugged with a hot accent, and the other a rich playboy with a killer smile. I found myself going back and forth as to who I thought was the most swoon worthy.

I could help but put my book down at various points because of the anxiety I felt for Maggie. She sticks herself in the most worrisome positions that I just couldn’t handle the thought that she might get caught! She was so brave and yet so annoyingly curious that I couldn’t take it!

Fans of thriller type reads and whodunits will definitely enjoy reading He Will Be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker. Get ready to get sucked into a world where things are not always as they seem, and where you start to wonder if you shouldn’t start perusing antique stores and find hidden treasure.

I’ve never read anything by K.A. Tucker generally because I think that her previous books weren’t exactly for me. Reading through your review on this one makes me want to try it. I’m a huge mystery-thriller fan so I definitely would like to give this a go. Great review!
