Giveaway: The Magicians by Lev Grossman presented by Show Case

The Magicians

Thanks to the amazing people at Shaw Media, we are giving away a copy of

Lev Grossman’s The Magicians!

Based upon Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, The Magicians stars Jason Ralph as Quentin Coldwater, a gifted grad student chosen to attend Brakebills University in upstate New York. He and his friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses grave danger to humanity. The two-episode premiere airs January 25 at 9pm ET/PT on Showcase.

Lev Grossman’s The Magicians trilogy is an international sensation, published and widely praised in more than twenty countries. The epic conclusion to the series, The Magician’s Land, opened at #1 last summer on the New York Times Hardcover Best Seller’s list, and was widely acclaimed as one of the best books of the year. Additionally, The Magicians was one of the recipients of the 2010 Alex Awards. The Alex Awards are given to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18.

This sounds a bit like a YA Harry Potter with “sex and booze” oh my! I usually like the book better than the movie or TV show and it’s always interesting to see what was changed between the two versions.

I hadn’t heard of this series until the show came out. I began watching and really liked it. Since I tend to like books more than the shows or movies I want to read it.

I really enjoyed reading this the first time I read it, when it came out. So owning my own copy and re-reading it would be nice.

This sounds like it would be a good read for my teenaged granddaughter.
