In a land where magic has been forgotten but peace has reigned for centuries, a deadly unrest is simmering. Three kingdoms grapple for power—brutally transforming their subjects’ lives in the process. Amidst betrayals, bargains, and battles, four young people find their fates forever intertwined:
Cleo: A princess raised in luxury must embark on a rough and treacherous journey into enemy territory in search of a magic long thought extinct.
Jonas: Enraged at injustice, a rebel lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country impoverished—and finds himself the leader of a people’s revolution centuries in the making.
Lucia: A girl adopted at birth into a royal family discovers the truth about her past—and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield.
Magnus: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, a firstborn son begins to realize that the heart can be more lethal than the sword…
The only outcome that’s certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?

QUESTion:
Why does Jonas go to the Wildlands forest? [Email the answer, found somewhere below, to yrmarketing@us.penguingroup.com for the chance to win one of five hardcover copies of Falling Kingdoms!]
“Jonas couldn’t guarantee that he’d be able to treat the princess with respect. His obsessive hate for her was palpable, bitter, and growing by the day. His blood boiled. Part of him wished he hadn’t come to see the chief. He could have killed Cleo in the unprotected cottage and nobody would have ever had to know but himself. Waiting until after they’d seen the Auranian king might prove a challenge.
But even he recognized that a permanent change for his people was more important than revenge.” – Chapter 21, FALLING KINGDOMS
From Morgan:
Seventeen-year-old Jonas Agallon is the youngest son of a wine seller, raised in near squalor in the dying land of Paelsia. But Jonas is a survivor, and, along with his older brother, Tomas, he learned to steal and poach from rich, bountiful Auranos, braving the dangerous Wildlands forest that separates the two kingdoms and dodging guards who would kill poachers on sight. He feels no remorse in stealing. It’s an act of survival.
Jonas is very popular among his many friends and acquaintances—and girls are taken in easily by his charm and good looks. His nights might be long and cold, but are rarely lonely. He’s able to see the world more clearly than his narrow-minded father, who believes that everyone is a victim of fate. Jonas, however, believes that fate and destiny is something that can be controlled if one is motivated enough.
When tragedy strikes, Jonas realizes that he’s a true fighter and one set on vengeance, no matter what he might lose in order to achieve it.
