Reality is slipping away as Marissa sinks deeper into an abyss. Only truth and love can bring her back from the edge.

While she slept on a desolate beach on the wild Oregon coast, a rogue wave pulled her out to sea. Now Marissa dreams each night of a merman who rescued her. Obsessed, she risks her life once again in the frigid ocean. Will Marissa recover or remain forever lost in the eddies inside her mind?

Sometimes, the deadliest dangers lie within.

My Writer’s Cave

I’m a runaway writer. At home, I tend to get very distracted, so every chance I get, I steal off to a nearby hotel or bed and breakfast to spend the night writing. Here’s one of my favorite escapes, a charming B&B called the Scappoose Creek Inn.

Since all of my novels are set in the Pacific Northwest, I also spend a lot of time traveling to research different settings, and after soaking up all that atmosphere and local flavor, I burrow down in my hotel room and spend a few hours writing.

When I am home, I prefer to write initial drafts in bed, propped against the headboard and gazing at the tall firs which fill the windows and reflect off my dresser mirror–surrounded by trees, I feel as though I’m in the forest. Editing and other writerly work is down in my office downstairs, but since it’s a multipurpose area, it’s hard to get my muse to visit me there.

Regardless of where I write, two things are absolute requirements: coffee and quiet. I don’t listen to music while writing, because it pulls me out of my own story and into that of the song, and I am easily distracted by conversations and outside noise. I’ve spent a bit of time at coffee shops, though, and love mixing it up like that to spark my creativity when it’s lagging.
