Pitcher Dylan Dennings has his future all mapped out: make the minors straight out of high school, work his way up the farm system, and get called up to the majors by the time he’s twenty-three. The Plan has been his sole focus for years, and if making his dreams come true means instituting a strict “no girls” policy, so be it.

Lucy Foster, needlepoint ninja, big sister to an aspiring pitcher, and chicken advocate, likes a little mayhem. So what if she gets lost taking her brother to baseball camp…at her own high school? The pitching coach, some hotshot high school player, obviously thinks she’s a hot mess. Too bad he’s cute, because he’s so not her type.

Problem is, they keep running into each other, and every interaction sparks hotter than the last. But with Dylan’s future on the line, he has to decide whether some rules are made to be broken…

Disclaimer: This book contains a crazy night of moonlit skinny-dipping, a combustible crush, and kisses swoony enough to unwind even the most Type A athlete.

Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Thanks so much for having me!

Describe your book in 140 characters or less (like a Tweet)

Focused, type A athlete with no-girls rule meets free-spirited needlepoint ninja. Sparks fly.

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

It’s the conclusion of a series about baseball players and the girls who drive them crazy (in good ways). Dylan was the best friend of the hero from the last book, so it’s his turn for an HEA.

Tell us about the main character(s).

Dylan: super-focused pitcher bent on doing whatever it takes to make the majors by the time he’s 23. This includes a “no girls until I make it” rule. He’s a good teacher and coach, and he meets Lucy through her little brother—an aspiring pitcher at the camp where Dylan teaches.

Lucy: Definitely walks to the beat of her own drum. Fan of chickens (trust me on this), clockwork needlepoint, and Truth or Dare. Directionally challenged. Doesn’t think she has time for guys.

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

Definitely has to be the scene where Lucy accidentally walks into the locker room—and Dylan is in nothing but a towel.

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

Dylan and Lucy are combustible. They’re both passionate people, but show it in different ways. They get into a huge fight toward the end of the book, and that was tough to write. It gets really personal, but only because they’re both so hurt.

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

I’m finishing up the third book in my Unstrung series. I hope to have that out before year-end. I also just sent my first New Adult book to my editor. That should be a winter-ish  release.

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!

Thanks again!
