Cvareh returns home to his sky world of Nova with the genius crafter Arianna as his temperamental guest. The mercurial inventor possesses all the Xin family needs to turn the tides of a centuries-old power struggle, but the secrets she harbors must be earned with trust — hard to come by for Ari, especially when it comes to Dragons. On Nova, Ari finds herself closer to exacting vengeance against the traitor who killed everything — and everyone – she once loved. But before Ari can complete her campaign of revenge, the Crimson Court exposes her shadowed past and reveals something even more dangerous sparking between her and Cvareh.

While Nova is embroiled in blood sport and political games, the rebels on Loom prepare for an all-out assault on their Dragon oppressors. Florence unexpectedly finds herself at the forefront of change, as her unique blend of skills — and quick-shooting accuracy — makes her a force to be reckoned with. For the future of her world, she vows vengeance against the Dragons.

Before the rebellion can rise, though, the Guilds must fall.

Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Thanks so much for having me! It’s always a delight to do blog tours like this.

Describe your book in 140 characters or less (like a Tweet)

Blood is important in a gritty, steampunk-influenced, divided, fantasy world.

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

My original inspiration came from the song “Transmission” by ZEDD. Specifically, there are lyrics in it that say, “We’re smart enough to know that, no one gets out alive… you’re never too young to die.” That led me down imagining what happened to the “chosen one” if they failed on their hero’s journey. What happened to the hero who was supposed to save the world if they failed? That gave Arianna’s backstory and the start to the Loom Saga.

Tell us about the main character(s).

We have three characters that carry over from THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM:

Arianna – Member of the Rivet’s Guild and engineer turned thief.

Cvareh – Dragon “prince” who was sent to Loom to deliver schematics for the Philosopher’s Box, stolen from the Dragon King.

Florence – A Raven who ran away from her guild, met Arianna and became her pupil to study the ways of the Revolvers.

There are also two new point of view characters in THE DRAGONS OF NOVA:

Petra – Cvareh’s sister and leader of House Xin.

Yveun – The Dragon King.

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

I think the book really hits momentum just about halfway around the Crimson Court, and everything after that I love. (Yes, I know I just said I love half the book.)

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

Toward the end, Arianna makes the decision to confront someone… but how she arrived at that decision and how she got to the confrontation gave me trouble, as my initial drafts all had her acting out of character.

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

THE REBELS OF GOLD, the final book in the Loom Saga, will be out in December, and it’s working its way through edits right now.

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!

I’m a big follower of this blog! :)

Dragons of Nova, well, the entire series, sounds pretty exciting. I’ve been intrigued by Elise Kova’s books for a while now. I already have the Air Awakens series and the Alchemists of Loom on Kindle. If only I can break my reading rut and start reading… gah.

  4. Samantha D

I just got Alchemist of the Loop!
