This is not your average trip to Fairyland…

Selkie Stewart has just saved her quasi-boyfriend, Ben, from a fairy prison run by the Seelie Court. If they weren’t the two most-wanted individuals in the Otherworld before, they definitely are now. Along with Ben and the rest of their ragtag group of allies-Selkie’s ogre aunts; a wizard named Will; Ben’s cousin Safford; and Kelsey, Selkie’s best friend-Selkie is ready to embrace her destiny and bring the Court down. Until she hears the rest of her prophecy: Benedict le Fay will betray you, and then he will die.

Selkie:     Hi Ben.  I’d like to ask you a few questions!  Be completely honest…your answers won’t affect how I feel towards you.

Ben:       …Are you going to ask about my mother?

Selkie:  No. Okay, first, We’ll start off simple. Favorite Color?

Ben:       Blue. No, orange. No, green. No, purple. No, I also really liked yellow. And I haven’t even mentioned red. They’re all nice.

Selkie:   Favorite genre of music?

Ben:       Pan flute.

Selkie:   Favorite Book?

Ben:       We’re not allowed to read books: too much power.

Selkie:   Favorite Song?

Ben:     The one we play in honor of named faeries. It may not sound uplifting, but it totally is.

Selkie:  Vampires or werewolves?

Ben:     Neither. I’ve met both and they’re both very unpleasant and it’s a good thing they like to keep to themselves.

Selkie:   TV or books?

Ben:     Books. We may not get to read them, but that means I’ve always wanted to.

Selkie:   Cookies or donuts?

Ben:     Cookies.

Selkie:   Warm weather or cold weather?

Ben:     Doesn’t matter, as long as it’s not wet.

Selkie:  Cats or dogs?

Ben:     Dogs, especially Corgis.

Selkie:  Scary fire-breathing Dragons or not-as-scary iguanas?

Ben:     I’d rather deal with an iguana. Dragons are very irrational.

Selkie:   Would you rather see deep space or the bottom of the ocean?

Ben:     I stay far away from the ocean, as much as I can.

Selkie:  Fruits or veggies?

Ben:     Fruits.

Selkie:  Fact or fiction?

Ben:     Aren’t they the same thing?

Selkie:  Shades or colors?

Ben:     Colors. I like lots of bright colors.

Selkie:  Coffee or Tea?

Ben:     Tea.

Selkie:   First Kiss?

Ben:     I feel like this is an answer that’s going to get me into trouble.

Selkie:  First Crush?

Ben:     Does anyone count before you?

Selkie:  Fondest memory?

Ben:     You showing up in Tir na nOg.

Selkie:  Oldest Childhood Memory?

Ben:     I like to imagine that I can remember my mother singing to me when I was very tiny baby. It’s probably not a real memory. But I like it anyhow.

Selkie:  Least Favorite person?

Ben:     Your mother.

Selkie:  Thanks Ben.  I think I’ve got a picture of you, and I’ll admit, we have a lot more in common than I thought! Untrustworthy mothers and all!

Skylar’s first story was a tale of romantic intrigue involving two feuding factions of squirrels. Think “Romeo & Juliet” but with bushy tails and added espionage. She was seven.

Since that time, Skylar’s head has been filled with lots of characters and lots of drama. She is delighted to be able to share some of it with all of you now, because, honestly, it was getting pretty loud and crowded in there.

Skylar is a born-and-bred New Englander, which is why Boston was a natural setting for her debut novel, THE GIRL WHO NEVER WAS. Skylar shares her home with a cardboard cutout of the Tenth Doctor, lots of Mardi Gras beads from the time she spent living in New Orleans, and a harp she’s supposed to be teaching herself to play. She’d like to get a dog.
