Welcome to our Tour Stop for

Burn (Pure #3) by Julianna Baggott

presented by Hachette Book Group!

We are so excited to have Julianna on the blog and share
some of her Top Favs!

Inside the Dome, Patridge has taken his father’s place as leader of the Pures. His struggle has led him here, intent upon bringing down the Dome from the inside, with the help of a secret resistance force. But things are not as simple from his new position of power and he finds himself tempted by his father’s words: perhaps if the world is to survive it needs the Dome – and Partridge – to rule it…

As Partridge’s resolve weakens, Pressia and Bradwell continue piecing together the clues left to them from the time before the Detonations. It is their hope that they will be able to heal the Wretches, and free them from their monstrous fusings and the Dome’s oppression once and for all. But everything depends, too, on Partridge. Separated by distance and history, can they still trust their friend and ally? Or is the world doomed to an eternity of war and hardship?

Top Favs with Julianna Baggott

Top 3 things you’d grab and save from the fire.

Assuming the four kids and two dogs are out, I’d grab my hard drive, a box of photo albums and a paper dress my daughter made out of her handwritten notes from high school.

Top 3 Favorite books that inspired you to write and why

This changes. This week, for example, I spent a lot of time with THE MYSTERIES OF PITTSBURGH — though not reading it any real order. THE KEPT hit stores yesterday and it’s a great harrowing first novel. I read poets — David Wojahn and Adelia Prado spring to mind.

Top 3 favorite songs to listen to while writing and why

I don’t write to music really but, for this trilogy, I used to sometimes start off by listening to THE SMITHS’ “HOW SOON IS NOW.”

Top 3 musicians/bands/groups and why

You’ll find The Police, Bruce Springsteen, and The Beach Boys referenced in all three books of the series.

Top 3 favorite animated movies and why

Top 3 favorite gadgets and why

I can’t use my own television until my kids get home from school because the assortments of remotes baffles me so… um, can opener, coffee maker, clamp-on lamp?

Top 3 favorite dream destinations and why

Look, I love France. I speak the language, was there in my (wildish) youth, and miss it. There, there, and there.

  18. Katie Glasgow

I devoured the first 2 books in the trilogy and can’t wait for Burn. I love the series because of the unique and inventive take on the post-apocalyptic scenario that is getting so over-worked the last couple years. Pressia also appeals to me because of her strong yet extra vulnerable nature.

Love the interview! great, unique questions :) I love UP and PUSS IN BOOTS, too, and I think it’s so cool Julianna loves France so much – I have an aunt there and love visiting there, too! :)

I haven’t yet read the previous two novels in the series, though I did purchase them. The reason why I haven’t touched them yet is.. well, I hate waiting for sequels and last books, so I was trying hard to wait it out until the last book is out! So glad I’ll finally get to read this awesome series soon! Can’t wait :)

Thanks for an awesome post! :)

  27. Gunnar

Ahh, just do it! Read them now. Don’t wait. These are three beautiful gems – apocalyptic fiction that really inspires… hope! I read each one as the appeared in stores and they lived and vibrated in my mind until the next one came. In a year or so, I’ll read them again in rapid sequel.
