Review: Harry Potter Crochet Kit

Create your own magic and conjure up these adorable figures of “the boy who lived” and his friends. All the spells you need to make amigurumi dolls of Harry Potter and Dobby are included: yarn, stuffing, needle and thread, safety eye beads, and the special magic wand crochet hook! A 76-page instruction book gives step-by-step directions to make ten more magical models, and the full-color photos will ensure your projects turn out completely enchanting.

This wonderful Harry Potter kit was provided to us for review by Media Masters Publicity. The thoughts provided are our own.

Where are my fellow crocheters at? If you are a fan of Harry Potter (who isn’t…) AND love to crochet, this kit is absolutely for you!

What I found when I started working on the Harry Potter figure, I found really quickly that despite my experience making amurigani toys, this kit requires lots of patience… and some experience crocheting and some experience in creating amurigani toys is a must.

Sure the instructions provided in the pattern book goes into SOME details on how to get started, but I think you still to have some understanding on concepts and basic crochet knowledge is needed.

I would have posted a picture of what my Harry Potter figure looks like, but it’s embarrassing TBH, and should fall under a “Nailed It” type post…

One of the things I didn’t like was the wand crochet needle provided in the kit. I found it to be pretty flimsy, and it snagged the yard all the time, which upped my frustration. I ended up switching to my own crochet needles.

I am in no way a pro at amurigani. In fact, I would consider myself a beginner but the creation of the head in the stuffies I have created were pretty straight forward and turned out in the dimensions they should be. I found, however, that my poor Harry’s head was extra huge! And then his body was super long… he was straight up ugly, and did not seem magical at all!

I think that when I rip apart the fail that is my Harry Potter figure, I’ll go with what I know already in amurigani crochet rather than what it says in the book.

What I did love about this kit is that they provide the yarn, button eyes, and thread to create your very own Harry Potter and Dobby (with a sock).

If you’ve got this kit, and have created Harry, I’d love to see it! Mine is seriously not at all good looking LOL
