The Daylighters Blog Tour
Rachel Caine says goodbye to Morganville
Master storyteller Rachel Caine has her hands full with her bestselling Morganville Vampires novels coming to an end, and a brand new book (a retelling of Romeo and Juliet titled Prince of Shadows) on the way. But with speculation about Daylighters (Nov. 5, 2013), the series finale, at an all time high, she just couldn’t resist dropping some hints. She’ll be stopping by to answer your questions in the comments below, but she can neither confirm nor deny what’s true and what’s not!
Rumor #3: Claire’s fighting against humans this time, not vampires.
From Daylighters:
Claire knew it wasn’t maybe rational to want to save the vampires; after all, they’d been the bogeymen under Morganville’s bed for generations, and they’d been responsible for so much. But individual vampires had been responsible. Wasn’t blaming an entire group for the acts of a few wrong?
Does that make me the villain now? She wondered that with a chill, left out from the smiles, the warmth, the camaraderie. The all-human, all-new Morganville. Am I the one who’s going to be responsible for ruining everything?
While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home. But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one…
Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.
It seems that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future. And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.
Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end…

PRINCE OF SHADOWS is out February 4th!
Be sure to watch the official book trailer and read an excerpt!
A standalone built around the character of Benvolio, from Romeo and Juliet. The novel will be told from the point of view of Benvolio, who is Romeo’s cousin and, in Shakespeare’s play, attempts to get the lovelorn Montague interested in other girls after it’s discovered that Juliet is a member of the clan his family despises: the Capulets. Caine’s novel, her agent said, explores a scenario in which Romeo and Juliet are not the only couple to fall into dire romantic straits and is “a tale of intrigue, betrayal, hatred, and tragedy,” about “lovers lost, and lovers found.” (From Publisher’s Weekly)

Thanks, Viki – it’s so amazing that so many people have stayed with a series this long! But I really think it’s time to let our Morganville friends live their lives without my interference. :)

Rachel, i am so looking forward to the final book. I will have it pre-ordered in no time and will probably finish it in one day even with school. Think it’s going to be fantastic and hope it is an amazing end. Don’t let this be the end of the Morganville Vampries PLEASE!!. They are fantastic books and the characters from the books have changed my life and comforted me when i have been at m lowest. Without those books like the Morganville or the Weather Warden series i wouldn’t be who i am today. When i walked into the works in Inverness and saw them on the shelf i just had to buy them. Cost my parents an arm and a leg buying me those books so they ended up buying me a kindle. Thankyou so much for making all your characters so amazing and making me feel like i wasn’t alone in the world. Thankyou so much
