Character Challenge: Scarlett vs. Jenn – Most Dangerous & Deadly Slayer
This week we get back to our more violent match-ups; two female characters, who have spent years of their lives dedicated to hunting down the things that go bump in the night, will face off for the title of Dangerous and Deadly Slayer. We have Scarlett March from The Sisters Red by Jackson Pierce and Jenn Leitner from the Crusade series by Nancy Holder and Debby Viguie. Now gals (and guys) like most of our match-ups, we will look at the usual things: back story-what made them become a monster slayer, the weapons/allies they have, then of course OUR EPIC BATTLE where we see what would happen if the two girls had to face off against each other. Since the two kill monsters, we’ll simply have the girls battle it out until first blood is drawn (I don’t feel comfortable killing one of them off). So let’s get started!
Lets imagine that both Scarlett and Jenn (the girls who overuse the same letter twice at the end of their names) meet up at a gym or something. It’s a dark night, the howl of Fenris, the hiss of Vampires, all that cliché drama that adds to the intense feeling growing in your stomach. They both enter the gym, clothed in battle gear, they face each other. One of them might taunt the other, saying that they are obviously the better trained Slayer. One of them might tell the other to get ready to eat their words. Whatever the situation (heh… situation) might be, it leads up to this: Scarlett and Jenn face off…freeze frame
Scarlett It all happened the night that Scarlett’s Grandmother was murdered by a Fenris (fancy word for werewolf) in her own house. That same night, Scarlett risked her life defending her younger sister, Rosie. The result was having half of her body mauled by the creature before she could kill it. Now scarred up, Scarlett sent herself and Rosie on a quest for revenge, by killing every single Fenris they came across. Attracting them by wearing red cloaks before chopping them up with axes, Scarlett will stop at nothing until every Fenris is gone (high ambitions, there).
Jenn Inspired by her grandparents, and more than willing to defend humanity, Jenn spent the past two years of her life training at the Salamanca Academy to learn how to fight against Cursed Ones (fancy word for vampire). So Jenn has a few more things going on than Scarlett (is it because Jenn has two books in her series?): her vampire boyfriend, Antonio, went crazy and she almost had to kill him and her Dad betrayed her. Her sister got kidnapped… then turned into the thing she’s been training to destroy. (SPOILER) Then her house gets burned down and all of her training mates get killed… Just another regular day in the life of a slayer.

It’s all come down to this… the epic (sort of dueling) battle where Scarlett and Jenn face off. Who will get cut? Who will throw in the towel? Only time will tell. The winner is determined by first blood… BEGIN!
if we could do video re-inactments, it would be so awesome…for now let’s use our imaginations that we reader’s are famous for…
Lets imagine that both Scarlett and Jenn met up at a gym or something. It’s a dark night, the howl of Fenris the hiss of Vampires, all that cliché drama that adds to the intense feeling growing in your stomach. They both enter the gym, clothed in battle gear, they face each other. One of them might taunt the other, saying that they are obviously the better trained Slayer. One of them might tell the other to get ready to eat their words. Whatever the situation might be, it leads up to this: Scarlett and Jenn face off, Scarlett has her axe out and since she’s spent all of her time as a slayer playing the innocent victim, she already knows when Jenn is going to come at her. Scarlett would take that opportunity to turn the tables, bringing her axe up- getting ready to draw first blood. Jenn would have some holy water of some sort on her, she would throw it into the other girl’s eye. Jenn would double backwards. They would play this game of tag for a while, going in, hitting the other then falling back when it seems too dangerous. They wouldn’t get tired. They both have trained almost equally.
There’s just one problem. One of the girls has been training longer than the other. That will make all the difference. One of the girls has been doing this for almost all of her life. It’s obvious that that girl is the one that wins. Scarlett would use some sort of martial arts move that would hit Jenn not only in the face, but take her down at the same time. Withdrawing her axe, she would slice a part of Jenn’s arm. First blood drawn. We have our winner.
Results: Most Dangerous & Deadly Slayer – Scarlett, Sister’s Red

I really enjoy your character challenges! They are always so interesting. You must put a lot of work into it! Though I haven't read either of these books after reading everything I would definitely agree that Scarlett would win! Great post!
