Untouched by Jus Accardohosted by Entangled Pub! We are so thrilled to have Jus AND Alex (*swoon*) stop by the blog. Jus gets down and personal with this oh so sexy bad boy that had me smirking all over the place! To help in promoting the re-release in mass market of TOUCH (Denazen #1), due out on June 26th (Complete with additional scenes from Kale’s POV!), we are posting our review of TOUCH. Also, don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a chance to win a copy of UNTOUCHED by Jus Accardo found at the end of the post!
A little bit about TOUCH and our review:
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.
Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.

O-M-G! This book was like X-Men, but better and sexier! There wasn’t anything in Touch by Jus Accardo that I didn’t love. It was action packed, funny, witty, full of surprises and introduced me to Kale. *sigh*
Basically, we are thrown into a world where people who have a certain gene, become superhuman (a la x-men style). The powers range from touch of death, to morphing, to telekinesis, to human lie detector. The powers are limitless. Enter, an organization named Denazen Corporation. They pretty much search for anyone, regardless of age, who has these powers and basically, kidnap them and make them into Denazen soldiers who go forth out into the world, and does their dirty work, like killing people.
Because Kale comes into Dez’s life, this secret world comes at her in full force and she must now free people that she knows who are being held at Denazen Corp., without getting herself locked up in there, or worse…getting killed.
I fell in love with all the characters in Touch. Jus Accardo has written a list of characters that will not be forgotten. There is at least someone in the book that readers will relate to. Accardo has given them all a personality of their own. No cookie cutter characters here folks. This is the real deal.
We have Dez (who by the way, is frickin’ hilarious) who is one kickass heroine. This “show no fear” attitude of hers combined with her sense of humour easily makes her tops on the list of “go to” heroines. Then there’s Kale who is innocent beyond belief, which makes him super sexy. His raw emotions, especially when it comes to Dez, were so fun to read! I loved reading about him experiencing the world outside of Denazen, through his eyes. Reading how completely in awe he is of Dez and his ability to be able to touch her without killing her was completely “awwww” worthy! And how hot is it that he can’t keep his hands off of her? RAWR! First touch, first kiss, first love….sigh, Kale was destined to be a book boyfriend. Let’s not forget Alex. For some reason, I had Mr. I Am Number Four himself, Alex Pettyfer’s face in my head when I was reading about him. Ohhh the secrets he divulges. He was an interesting and swoon worthy character to read about. And then we have Mr. Cross aka Dez’s dad aka Mr. Father Of The Year…Not! He is one sneaky bugger. Manipulative, conniving, controlling, and at times, a force to be reckoned with. He goes all out when it comes to getting what he needs, and will stop at nothing to get it…even sacrificing his daughter…among others.
Jus Accardo’s writing is completely addicting and thoroughly enjoyable. Her descriptions of the world through the eyes of Kale was completely believable and heart touching. When it came down to the fight scenes and battle of the “powers”, I was totally able to picture every little thing. Right down to the sounds, smells, the different abilities used such as fire balls, and moving liquid (you’ll understand when you read the book).
If you are a fan of action, and mystical powers, you are totally going to love and devour Touch by Jus Accardo. I personally cannot WAIT to read Untouched (Denazen #1.5) which is a Novella to the Denazen series (review coming soon) and then of course Toxic (Denazen #2), the sequel to Touch, which is due out September 2012.
The main characters in a book or movie are usually the focus of all the attention. The hero and heroine usually get all the love. They get crushed on and drooled over and ultimately have statues erected in their names. As a writer though, sometimes I kind of fall for someone else.
Jus Accardo’s Interview with the Oh so sexy Alex:
So today I thought I’d bring a long one of my personal fave characters from the Denazen series. Alex. We met him in TOUCH and although we don’t see him again until TOXIC, trust me when I tell you, he’s not going anywhere. His moral compass doesn’t point quite north, but deep down, Alex is a good guy.
Really. He is! I swear…
Okay. He has good qualities…
Jus: Hey Alex! Let’s jump right into it. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Alex: Not a lot to tell. I’m a Six—you know that already, though—with the power of telekinesis. According to some people, I’m a dime a dozen.
Jus: Some people… You mean Kale, right?
Alex: *rolls his eyes* Yeah. Him.
Jus: You don’t like him, do you?
Alex: Whatever gave you that idea? The guy’s a tool. I don’t trust him—and I think he’s wrong for Dez.
Jus: And that couldn’t be because you’re jealous, right?
Alex: Nope. You wait. Mark my words. No one is that clueless. I don’t care where he grew up. He’s gonna wake up one morning and just snap. Go apeshit or something. *Alex stomps his foot* And I’m gonna be there to say I told ya so.
Jus: About your abilities… Do you ever wish you had a different ability? Something with a little more, I dunno, kick?
Alex: A little more kick? I had a friend who could light stuff on fire. It didn’t end well for him. I’m fine the way I am. The way I see it, I’m actually lucky.
Alex: Sure. The suits at Denazen don’t bother with me because the space case is actually right. There are a lot of people out there that can do what I do. I’m not in demand. Dez on the other hand…
Jus: Let’s talk about Dez for a minute.
Alex: *sighs* Do we have to?
Jus: I really have just one question—and it’s not even directly about her.
Jus: How do you feel when you hear about this epic love triangle between you, Dez, and Kale?
Alex: *blinks* Epic love triangle? *snorts and shakes his head*
Jus: So you don’t see it that way?
Alex: Of course not. Triangles are three sided. Last time I checked—unless you know something I don’t—Dez didn’t want anything to do with me. She made her choice.
Jus: So you’ve given up on her?
Alex: I didn’t say that.
Jus: So you haven’t given up on her?
Alex: I didn’t say that, either.
Jus: You’re being cryptic.
Alex: *grins* I know. Isn’t it sexy? That’s what you chicks like, right? The dark, mysterious type?
Jus: It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to tell you I was more into the strong, but sweet types, huh?
Jus: *laughs* Didn’t think so. One last question and I’ll let you go. The word on the street if that you’ve got some pretty questionable morals. Most people have you pegged for the bad guy after—well—that thing you did. What do you think about that?
Alex: Let them think what they want. It’s a jungle out there. You’re forgetting that Denazen slaughtered my entire family. I learned the hard way to do whatever I had to in order to survive and keep the people I care about safe. Not everything is how it looks, you know. You can’t slap a label on me if you don’t know the whole story. And trust me, you don’t.
Jus: *nods* Something tells me there’s a lot more to you than meets the eye… Thanks for hanging today, Alex.

Untouched (A Denazen Novella 1.5)
Until he met Dez, Kale’s days were filled with violence and death. He was used as a weapon of destruction by the power hungry men of Denazen. He’s a Six. A person with an abnormal ability. Some people call them gifts, but not Kale. Kale’s touch means instant death.
But now there’s Dez, the girl he can touch, and they’re hunting down Sixes and warning them about Denazen. Kale is learning about the world outside captivity and trying to put his dark past behind him. But they underestimated how badly Denazen wanted him back.
When Dez sacrifices herself to save the new Six they’d rescued from falling into the corp’s hands, Kale is lost. Denazen has brought out its best to get the job done. Samsen, a nightmare from Kale’s past—the only person he’s ever truly feared—has come for them, and it soon becomes obvious he has his own twisted agenda.
Kale will need all his training to get Dez back and ensure they make it out, free—and alive. But will it be enough?
