Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Thanks so much for having me! Its so awesome to be back again.

Describe your book in 140 characters or less

Adrenalin junkie Dez & ex assassin Kale prepare for one last battle with Denazen as secrets & unforeseen betrayals threaten all they love.

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

The series, overall, was inspired by a single scene that popped into my head while waiting at the drive through at Dunkin Donuts back in 2010. Someone running barefoot through the woods, the grass beneath their feet shrivelling and dying as they went. The books all grew organically from that.

Tell us about the main character(s).

The Denazen series has a lot of important players, but the main two are Dez and Kale. Dez is a tough, take no shit adrenalin junkie who has a troubled relationship with her father. In an attempt to rile him up, she brings home a boy. That single act of defiance changes her entire life. She’s strong, opinionated, and will defend those she loves with her very last breath.

Kale is a Six (a person with a special ability). His touch means instant death. Until the night he meets Dez, he’s lived as a captive and unwilling assassin for a group of power-hungry men with a truly twisted agenda. He’s hysterically ignorant of even the most basic social situations and often doesn’t understand why people act the way that they do, making for many laugh-out-loud scenarios. He’s sweet and he’s pure and his interactions with Dez will take your breath away. Oh, and he’s a serious badass ;)

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

Transcendent had three scenes that I love above everything else. They might be my favorite from the entire series—which is weird because they made me cry. We’re talking ugly cry. Snot, swollen eyes and blubbering. Unfortunately, they’re super spoilery so I can’t say much…

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

I’d say one of the scenes mentioned above (far too spoilery to give specifics) tied for hardest to write with the very last scene of the book. Saying goodbye to these characters was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

Transcendent is the only release I have planned for 2020, but I have two books in the pipeline, one of them being an amazing YA fantasy that I’m so in love with. Hopefully I’ll have some news to share soon!

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!

Thank you so much. This was a blast!

The boy she’d lost, and finally found again, is not the same boy she remembers. As one of the most powerful Sixes, Kale has changed in ways Dez can’t ignore.
He swore he’d never kill, and now he’s out for blood.
He swore he’d never harm her, and now he struggles to control his fatal touch.
They’ve been to hell and back, over and over, but this time they might not survive the fire.
When the truth at the root of the Denazen Corporation’s origins begins to unfold, those behind the scenes will do anything to keep it hidden.
Dez and Kale will be pushed to their breaking point. As long buried secrets come to light, they must fight for their freedom—and each other—as they never have before.
Kale’s destructive power could win the battle, if he doesn’t lose himself to it in the process. Or Dez will be faced with an impossible task—saving the world from the boy she loves.
