To save her fallen angel boyfriend, Mia must make an impossible journey through Hell with the one person she prayed she’d never see again.
What was your inspiration for writing this book? Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?
The idea for this particular book came to me in meditation. Because it’s the third in a series, I have had a chance to really get to know the characters. The idea for this book came to me while I was chatting with a friend. I really wanted to write a journey into the underworld. But since the idea for this book came to me before the idea for the second book, I needed to figure that one out before I could write this one.
Tell us about the main character(s).
Mia Crawford thinks she’s a pretty average teenager, until she begins to see things that other people can’t. In The Watcher, she comes to realize that her soul is thousands of years old, when she discovers that she shared a past life with an angel who fell from Heaven to be with her.
In the second book, The Angel Killer, she learns that she’s a prophet, which is why she has the gift of clairvoyance among other abilities.
Mia is very strong willed and independent. She experiences things that I think would freak the average person out, let alone a teenager. She’s also very loyal. When those she loves are in danger, there’s nothing that will stop her from helping them.
Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?
It’s difficult to explain without spoilers, but there’s this part after a series of action scenes, where we see these bedraggled beings leaving. Mia asks where they’re going. The answer is one word, “Home.” It’s one of my favorite parts.
Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing? If so, why?
I found the scenes in the beginning more difficult to write. Since I’m a pantser, who writes from start to finish, I found it hard to deal with Mia’s grief. I eventually went back and included some happy scenes from her past, which made the story flow much better. But the first draft was difficult to get out.
What sort of projects do you have going on right now? Any new books coming out?
I’m working on a new project, a YA fantasy that’s not finished yet. At this point, I have no idea when it’s coming out.
It was great having you on the blog today! We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!
Thank you so much. I’d be happy to stop by any time. Thank you also for pulling together such a lovely blog tour!
OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES:
Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her.
Can he face her without falling again?
Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.
When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.
In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?
Ancient history is only the beginning.
Now that she’s found him again, all Mia Crawford wants is some downtime with her fallen angel boyfriend, Michael. But the call of duty keeps him away—from school and from her—with more demons to smite than ever.
When Michael is mortally wounded by a cursed sword, Mia must perform an ancient blood ritual to save him. But the spell exacts a price. Haunted by visions of war, torture, and despair, Mia discovers the world is in more danger than she ever imagined. Behind the scenes, an evil adversary pulls all the strings.
After redemption, there’s Hell to pay.
