In a small town like Culler, South Carolina, you guard your secrets like you guard your cobbler recipe: with your life. Georgia Ann Monroe knows a thing or two about secrets: she’s been guarding the truth that her best friend Will is gay for years now. But what happens when a little white lie to protect him gets her into a fake relationship…and then the boy of her dreams shows up?

Enter Beau Montgomery: Georgie’s first love, hotter than ever, and much too much of a southern gentleman to ever pursue someone else’s girl. There’s no way to come clean to Beau while still protecting Will. But bless their hearts, they live in Culler—where secrets always have a way of revealing themselves.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a hilarious “fakeship,” a scorching-hot impossible relationship, and a heartwarming best-friendship that will make you want to call your best friend right here, right now.

Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Thank you for having me! I’m excited to get to be here and talk about my new book.

Describe your book in 140 characters or less (like a Tweet)

A girl agrees to fake date her gay best friend so he can go out on real dates with a secret boy and then her first love comes back to town

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

I think I was in the bathroom (it’s hard to pinpoint where I was) and the first line of the book popped into my head, this really southern girl talking about being one of three people to know her best friend was gay..and then from there, I went exploring to learn more about her, the town, the people and the story. I also watched some Gilmore Girls to help me shape the town.

Tell us about the main character(s).

Georgia Ann Monroe, aka Georgie, who’s a snarky, Southern Belle but a whole lot more than meets than eye. She’s pretty fierce, loyal, spunky, and knows how to balance Southern Charm with fishing. She’s not as balanced with her own life as she is her hobbies, namely she struggles with being loyalty (to her family, town, friends) and being true to herself.

Beau Montgomery is back to his hometown after a hiatus (and his parent’s messy divorce) and he hasn’t really been the same since he left town, so he comes back hoping to find some of what he’s lost…but of course, even in a town where everything stays the same, he’s seeing how everyone and everything is different now and that includes him too.

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

The moment Georgie and Beau see each other again sticks out in my memory as something I love…

My absolute favorite scene in the book, which I cant say specifically because I don’t want to spoil anyone, happens at the very end of chapter 15 in the cabin between Georgie and Will. To me, it captures exactly what their friendship is.

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

I had a hard time nailing down what Beau wanted in the story, because Georgie was so sure and strong, that it took some navigating to figure out exactly what his role was. It’s one of those things though that once it happens, it happens.

The town of Culler was also hard, but merely because I wanted to show more than I was able. I love that town, and the people, and it’s not their story, even if they are part of it, so I had to narrow in my focus on it.

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

I’m working on the next book in the Southern Charmed series.

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!

I had a lot of fun! I really appreciate you having me. <3
