Chapter-by-Chapter-header---Interview

Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Thanks for having me and setting up my blog tour! Since THE REPLACEMENT CRUSH is about a book blogger, I’m enjoying responding to all the blogger questions on the blog tour.

Describe your book in 140 characters or less (like a Tweet)

Romance book blogger and adorkable nerd fall in love, bonding over Star Trek, hero categories, a debatable list of crushes, and smoothies.

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

I’m inspired by the book blogging community. The dedication and straight-up love of books, passionate reviews, and total book love is amazing. If I weren’t writing books, I’d want to blog about books.

Also, I really wanted to write about a girl who unashamedly loves romance novels but struggles to figure out her own happily ever after.

Tell us about the main character(s).

Vivian Galdi lives with her mom, a mystery author who also runs a bookstore in their beach town. Naturally, with an author as a mom Viv loves books, especially romance novels. Viv has a group of amazing friends, and she’s smarty, funny, and loyal. She’s also very close to her mom.

She hasn’t had much luck in the romance department herself, and thinks it’s because she’s a nerd. She has a bad experience with a player so decides to only pursue “safe” crushes. Then an adorkable new nerd moves to town who messes up her whole plan.

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

Hmm, that’s tough to choose. I love the grand gesture at the end, but I’m also partial to the coffee shop scene when Vivian interviews Dallas for the school paper. He turns the tables on her, taking over the interview…and her heart.

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

The hardest scenes to write were the confrontations between Viv and Jake, because he’s a bad dude.

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

Next up is another YA contemporary for Entangled Teen – a Pride and Prejudice retelling, which I can hardly believe I’m doing, but my editor encouraged me to go for it, so I am.

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!

Thanks so much for having me!

About Lisa Brown Roberts

lisa-brown-roberts

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life's painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.

Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.
