After a nightmarish encounter with a werewolf, seventeen-year-old Adria Dawson loses her sister, but gains the love of a mysterious young man and his legendary family.Strange and tragic things begin to happen in the small town of Hallowell, Maine: residents come down with an unexplainable ‘illness’ and some disappear. In the midst of everything, Isaac Mayfair is adamant about keeping Adria safe, even from her sister whom he has warned her to stay away from.

As unspeakable secrets unfold all around Adria, impossible choices become hers to bear. Ultimately, no matter what path she takes, her life and the lives of those she loves will be in peril. As she learns about the werewolf world she also learns why her place in it will change the destinies of many.

I couldn’t find a book trailer, so here’s an awesome song!

If I had to define The Mayfair Moon in three words I would say: Twilight only with werewolves. Okay, so maybe I used four words instead of three, my point is that this novel was basically as good as Twilight. except that it was more playful and dark and had werewolves instead of vampires! Anywho, I had been excited to read The Mayfair Moon because I had seen nothing but good reviews… now you must be wondering one thing: Is this going to be one of those good reviews to add to the plethora? Why yes. Yes it is.

When I started the novel, I was hooked from the opening sentence about how the main character, Adria, has a stepfather who uses the F-bomb constantly. After finishing the opening chapter I was already in love.  Not only was it scary as hell when Adria and her sister Alex encounter a wolf-man (old school talk for werewolf), but also became heartbreaking when Adria and Alex are taken away from their mother and abusive stepfather. As the story progressed, I did notice that the beginning kept up a slow pace—which is fine because I was falling in love with the Twilight-esque “who are they” Scene where Adria first sees Zia and her brothers.

After long consideration, I also noticed that author J.A. Redmerski managed to craft me a brand new werewolf boyfriend. I fell in love with Isaac Mayfair, even though at first he came off as a sleaze ball (it was later explained why all of the ladies in the Mayfair house were draped all over him).  I got to see the soft and cuddly side of the werewolf bad boy. He was so cute and romantic towards Adria, constantly telling her that he didn’t want to harm her with his wolf and at the same time telling her about how he got his scars when she asked. He’s definitely another Ren (the character from Nightshade) and will steal any girl’s heart.

While the story did hold many dark and tragic stories, starting with Adria’s mother’s abusive relationship and moving all the way towards Trajan and Aramei’s grim love story—I found that they made the story even better. As well as the Blood Bond concept and Isaac’s refusal to turn Adria into one of “them”, I found myself getting the shivers and saying “awww” (but in a sad tone). There was quite the air of mystery in the story, mostly revolving around Alex and why she is acting so different, but nearing the end of the novel there is a major twist featuring ***that I can pinky swear nobody will see coming.

I recommend this to fans of the Nightshade series and the Dark Divine series as well as simple fans of the werewolf genre. The Mayfair Moon definitely gives a new perspective to my view of werewolves and hey, I got a new fictional boyfriend out of it!
