Eden: Josh Evans and I have been best friends forever. He knows all my secrets, and I know all of his. So when he randomly asks me to help him lose his virginity, I sort of flip out. That’s a question that sends your mind to places you’ve seriously never considered before. Like, you know. Having sex. With your best friend. Except Josh doesn’t want to have sex with me—he wants me to help him find a girl. A nice girl who’s funny and smart and cute. Except he already knows a girl just like that…

Josh: Eden Sumner is my best friend. So of course she’d be the person to help me find my perfect match, so I can drop my V card before I head off to college. Except the more we search, the more I realize that maybe the right girl has been by my side all along. I don’t need Eden’s help in finding me a girl to love. I’m pretty sure I’m already in love with Eden. But now she thinks I’m only after one thing…with anyone but her.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book is what happens when American Pie meets Friends with Benefits. It contains two best friends, plenty of angst, and lots and lots of sex talk. Reading this might have you looking at your best friend in a different light!

Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Thank you so much for having me! I’m excited to be here.

Describe your book in 140 characters or less (like a Tweet)

This is exactly 140 characters — Josh asks his best friend Eden to help him find a girl to lose his virginity to and soon realizes the girl he wants to have sex with is…Eden

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

few years ago my Entangled editor had put a submission call out asking for a YA book like the movie American Pie, where friends make a pact, bet or whatever about losing their virginity. I loved the idea and eventually came up with Josh and Eden and their story.

Tell us about the main character(s).

Josh and Eden are seniors in high school, and they’ve been best friends since middle school. They have an easy, affectionate relationship, and I tried to make them as real as possible. In fact, a lot of the little quirks and details that make up Josh and Eden are based on teens in my life that I’m surrounded by every day.

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

I pretty much loved it every time Josh’s other best friend Abe walked onto the page. It was like I had no control over him (those are the best type of characters to me) and he would say and do the worst things. I adored him!

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

I wanted to get the part when **spoiler alert** Josh and Eden finally have sex just right. I wanted it to be authentic and not a bunch of flowery, silly stuff. I wanted it to be real and raw and imperfect because that’s what the first time is usually like. But when it’s the first time with someone you love, the real and raw and imperfect stuff doesn’t really matter. You’re just in the moment.

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

I have a YA thriller coming out in January called PRETTY DEAD GIRLS. There’s murder and confusion and a weird yet hot boy and a killer on the loose. I had a lot of fun writing it and hope readers love it too!

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!

Thanks for having me! Loved your questions, they were great. :)
