Blog Tour: Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy – Guest Post and Giveaway

Hello Readers!  Welcome to our Tour Stop for

Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy,

presented by Entangled Teen!

We have Monica on the blog today talking about the cover!

Beautiful. Perfect. Dead.

In the peaceful seaside town of Cape Bonita, wicked secrets and lies are hidden just beneath the surface. But all it takes is one tragedy for them to be exposed.

The most popular girls in school are turning up dead, and Penelope Malone is terrified she’s next. All the victims so far have been linked to Penelope—and to a boy from her physics class. The one she’s never really noticed before, with the rumored dark past and a brooding stare that cuts right through her.

There’s something he isn’t telling her. But there’s something she’s not telling him, either.

Everyone has secrets, and theirs might get them killed.

Cover Love

As a writer, there are a few things I love to hear or see in my inbox. They are as follows:

“**Blank** Publisher want to acquire your book.”

“You got paid.”

“Here’s your new cover art.”

I’ve been really lucky when it comes to cover art. Rarely am I disappointed. I’ve had a few mishaps over the years (and when you’ve been published for over ten years, you’re bound to have a cover slipup here and there), but for the most part, I’ve been very pleased with my covers. And the cover for PRETTY DEAD GIRLS is no exception.

I filled out my cover art form with Entangled Teen with as much information as I could provide, which really wasn’t much. I knew I wanted it to be atmospheric and moody. Kinda scary, but in the subtlest way. I wasn’t sure what the cover designer would come up with, but I waited anxiously for that email to hit my inbox. The one that would have the rough draft of the PRETTY DEAD GIRLS cover concept.

When I received the email, I wasn’t disappointed. The colors (blue and pink), totally worked. The font with the dropped “S” on Girls, the tree branches, the fog-like atmosphere, it was perfect. The rough draft is extremely close to the final cover. They didn’t change much at all.

A small confession though—no one is murdered while tromping through the woods. I know the cover might “say” that to the reader, but that’s not the case. Not that I think the cover is misleading, though. I absolutely love it. This is my first hardcover release and it is by far the most gorgeous book I’ve ever had. The book is bound in hot pink (so pretty!) and the interior design is sooooo beautiful. I could seriously stare at this book all day long.

So yeah, to say I’m pleased with the way the PRETTY DEAD GIRLS final product turned out is an understatement. I am in loooove.

Hopefully readers will be too.
