Seventeen-year-old Grace Ann Miller is no ordinary runaway…

After having been missing for weeks, Grace is found on the estate of international rock star Gavin Vault, half-dressed and yelling for help. Over the course of twenty-four hours Grace holds an entire police force captive with incredulous tales of angels, demons, and war; intent on saving Gavin from lockup and her family from worry over her safety.

Authorities believe that Grace is ill, suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, the victim of assault and a severely fractured mind. Undeterred, Grace reveals the secret existence of dark angels on earth, an ancient prophecy and a wretched curse steeped in Biblical myth. Grace’s claims set into motion an ages-old war, resulting in blood, death and the loss of everything that matters. But are these the delusions of an immensely sick girl, or could Grace’s story actually be true?

Praefatio is Grace’s account of weeks on the run, falling in love and losing everything but her faith. When it’s sister against brother, light versus darkness, corrupt police officers, eager doctors and accusing journalists, against one girl with nothing but her word as proof: who do you believe?

Top Favs with Georgia McBride

You’re home alone, there’s a fire!  Top 3 things you’d grab and save from the fire.
My phone, kids, dogs not necessarily in that order.

Top 3 Favorite authors (dead or alive) and why
JK Rowland – because writing a bestseller in your car is awesome. Maya Angelou – she changed my life. I KNOW WHEY THE CAGED BIRD SINGS gave me the self-esteem I needed to be where I am now. Not sure I have another fave. I love to read. Period.

Top 3 Favorite snacks while writing and why
I don’t snack while writing. *shifty eyes*

Top 3 Favorite books that inspired you to write and why
Twilight – I was inspired by the author’s story. She wrote during her kids’ activities and what not. And, she was rejected by pretty much everyone. Totally loved Jennifer Brown’s HATE LIST and Carrie Ryan’s THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH – both blew me away. Exceptional storytelling, depth of character, rich and layered.

Top 3 favorite songs to listen to while writing and why
I like to listen to all kinds of music. When I wrote CONFESSIONS OF THE DARK QUEEN, I listened to classical music. It’s an alternate history fantasy! For PRAEFATIO, I listened mostly to 30 Seconds to Mars. Otherwise, I dabble in various music styles while writing my works in progress.

Top 3 favorite techniques to overcome writers block and why
Take a walk. Put it away. Do something else. Get some fresh air. I have found that normally, when a block hits, it is due to the author trying to push the story in a direction it does not want to go.

Top 3 musicians/bands/groups and why
30 Seconds to Mars, The Neighbourhood, The 1975. Sneaking in Taylor Swift here because – we love that girl!

Top 3 favorite movies of all time and why
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. If you have not seen, it YOU MUST. Old black and white comedy, action, drama. Also love The Matrix, any and every Tom Cruise film, all Harry Potter, Gone With the Wind. Oooh. Pretty Woman.

Top 3 favorite animated movies and why
The Lion King HANDS DOWN FAVE. Toy Story, Bambi.

Top 3 favorite movie moments and why
Jerry Maguire: You had me at hello. The Matrix: What if told you there is no spoon? It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World: Calling Sargent Culpepper.

Top 3 favorite actors/actresses and why
Tom Cruise, Chris Hemwsorth, Idris Alba.  If you have to ask…

Top 3 favorite gadgets and why
smartphone, eReader, Beats headphones. BECAUSE I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT.

Top 3 favorite dream destinations and why
Aruba, London, Iceland. Have been all but Iceland.

That is, of course, when she is not blasting really loud music or reading. She lives in North Carolina with four dogs, a frog, a parrot, 2 kids, parents and a husband. PRAEFATIO is her first novel.

This sounds awesome!! I love when books really get into questioning a character’s psychological competence. I read Julie Reece Deaver’s The Night I Disappeared as a kid, and I’ve never found another book quite like it. So, seeing this with a character who may have Stockholm Syndrome or some sort of fractured mind is awesome :D Love the top 3 questions in the interview too, btw. Cool setup, guys!!

    A very impressive cover!
