Victory is written in the blood of the brave. As the armies of the Tibran Empire continue to march across Maldobar, a path of scorched destruction and despair is left in their wake. Even with the formidable princess, Jenna Farrow, leading the charge, the strength of the dragonriders is waning. Tibran victory appears inevitable—especially after Princess Jenna and Prince Aubren are taken hostage by the infamous Lord Argonox. Separated from her brother and tortured for information, Princess Jenna refuses to bend to the iron will of Argonox. But her strength and resolve may only last so long. Held prisoner in his dark tower, it would take a miracle to set her free—or perhaps a pair of demigods and their dragons. With revived dragonrider legend, Jaevid Broadfeather, at his side, Reigh must now make a choice: face the truth about the origin of his dark powers, or turn his back on world in need. But throwing off a lifetime of shame and self-doubt is not so easily done—especially when the cost of failure means the destruction of the world. The long-awaited hero has awakened. The ancient spirits are stirring. The dark goddess has chosen her champion. But is he ready to embrace that rite and become the HARBINGER Maldobar needs him to be?

Thanks so much for taking the time and spending time with us here at Chapter by Chapter!

Describe your book in 140 characters or less (like a Tweet)

A fearless princess and her dragon join the fight to save their kingdom from invasion. This war will become their LEGACY.

What was your inspiration for writing this book?  Was it in a dream? A thought while taking a walk?

I honestly don’t remember. Story ideas come to me so quickly, and in such quantity, all I can do to keep up is jot them down wherever I am. So I have notebooks and scraps of paper and pages of notes in my phone full of these ideas. I don’t know what sets them off but they never stop!

Tell us about the main character(s).

In addition to the familiar faces of Reigh, Jaevid, and Enyo, we will be getting a much closer look at Princess Jenna and those in her inner circle. I normally don’t like writing female narrators, but Jenna came to me easily and I really relate to her in many ways. She’s tough, but empathetic and guards her heart. She’s determined to do what she feels in her heart is her purpose in life, even if no one ever loves or praises her for it—she’s not doing it for them, she’s doing it because it’s what she was born to do and she refuses to betray that part of her spirit. I’m hoping she will be received well by my readers, who have never read from a female character’s perspective in this world before.

Do you have a favorite quote or specific part in the book that you really love?

I do, but it’s hard to talk about without spoiling it! There’s a moment when Jaevid, after so many trials and internal battles with self-doubt, finally comes into his own as a character. He truly becomes the hero he was born to be; the one we’ve waited to see, without fear or doubt. It’s a beautiful moment, especially for readers who’ve followed his journey from the beginning. Our baby is all grown up now!

Was there a specific part in the book that you had an especially difficult time writing?  If so, why?

The ending was a gray area for me. My gut was pulling me one way, which is usually what I follow, but everyone warns against ending on cliffhangers. I guess I’ve gained something of a reputation for that, though, and honestly I’ve never been bothered by them as a reader. If you are angry because a book ended, it just means the story and the characters meant something to you, that you were engrossed in the world, and that’s a good thing! I promise, though, no cliffhangers in the next one. ;)

What sort of projects do you have going on right now.  Any new books coming out?

I’ve always got projects up to my eyeballs. I’m writing three other series at the moment and have plans for four more. I’m also doing illustrations for a children’s book series, updating my website, and somewhere in there I have a family that relies on me to keep the wheels at home turning. It’s a busy life, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It was great having you on the blog today!  We hope you’ll decide to stop by again someday, and we wish you much success!!
