Top 3 Favorite authors (dead or alive) and why:

Anne Bishop—her world building and characters are insane. I can (and have) read her books over and over.

Jacqueline Caery—same as before. Carey’s worlds are lush and detailed, her story arcs sweeping and still nuanced. (When I grow up, I want to be either of these authors.

The final author? It’s a tossup between Juliet Marillier, Holly Black, or Cassandra Clare.

Top 3 Favorite snacks while writing and why:

Popcorn—it’s amazing. But only from the movie theatre.

Blowpops—easy, sweet, and I don’t have to stop working.

And coffee. Because yeah. It’s coffee.

Top 3 Favorite books that inspired you to write and why:

books don’t inspire me to write. Music, life, photography and mythology all inspire me, but books are my safe place—my place to turn off my mind and just enjoy.

Top 3 favorite songs to listen to while writing and why:

I’m going to list stations, because I prefer to listen to a wide range of music, rather than  few songs.

So—Pandora’s Shinedown, Christina Perri, and Miranda Lambert radio are all recent favorites.

Top 3 favorite techniques to overcome writers block and why:

short word sprints on my phone.

Timed writing sessions on Write or Die.

Writing the troublesome scene from a different perspective. The pressure of timed writings motivates me.

Top 3 musicians/bands/groups and why:

Taylor Swift,

The Band Perry, and

Miranda Lambert—all three inspire me.

Top 3 favorite movies of all time and why:

Braveheart—the love story.

Gladiator—the time period,

Star Trek (all of them) because I’m a Trekkie.

Top 3 favorite animated movies and why:

The Prince of Egypt—gorgeous and I love the perspective of a familiar story.

Beauty and the Beast—this should be pretty obvious.

Finding Nemo—it amuses me.

Top 3 favorite movie moments and why:

The scene sign from Love, Actually is epic. I love it.
