Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

MaryAnn NewI have been anticipating this read for such a long time!  And although the subject matter was something that I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to feel about it, A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers was a read that I was absolutely glad to have read.  It had me cheering on so many characters, it left my head spinning.

After a horrible break up with her cheating long-time boyfriend, Lexie decides to put everything she has into scoring an educational leave to Rome.  But back home, and a day before she is scheduled to leave, Lexie has a run in with her ex, and old feelings come back to the surface.  Thank goodness for her totally hot stepbrother, Trent.  For as long as she can remember, he has always been there for her…to pick her up when she’s feeling down…always her best friend and partner in crime.  But this time, when Trent goes to lift her spirits, something between changes, and Lexie’s life is turned upside down.

Vowing to make things right again, and gain some much needed space, Lexie’s trip to Rome turns out to be more than just learning more about the arts.  Lexie learns some things about herself, and it’s eating her up inside.  Enter young, attractive, soon-to-be priest, Alessandro.  With a darkish past of his own, Lexie and Alessandro’s friendship soon becomes something that neither one expected.

Now Lexie is torn between someone who feels so right but so wrong at the same time, and someone who she should stay away from, but can’t seem to resist.

The characters in A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers are ones that readers everywhere won’t soon forget.  I’m positive that there will be one that you will vie for over the other, and yet feel torn up inside with your decision.

Although there was a little too much art talk and religion talk for my taste, it wouldn’t be the same without it as the religion and art are a huge part of the book.  But I did find myself skipping and skimming through the art lectures.  Although it may have been truly fascinating to art lovers, it was making the pace of the story slow down for me.

I really enjoyed how funny the main character, Lexie Banks, was.  Even when she’s in the confessional seeking absolution, her conversation with the priest is pretty hilarious.  Her mouth kind of ran like verbal diarrhea.  Alessandro was all sorts of sexy in my mind…even if he was a priest in training.  Just the little things he would say, or the tiniest gestures had me swooning.  Darn his calling to the church!  And Trent!!  Omg, he was all sorts of yum.  The way he talks and treats and reacts to Lexie had me sighing and wishing that I could hear his sweet singing voice.

Fans of New Adult reads will really come to enjoy A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers.  Grab a copy and read it for yourself!  Decide whether or not Lexie Banks has gone a little too far with her decisions…
